Fethard Medieval Town

A few minutes from Clonacody House is the town of Fethard, which is one of Ireland’s finest walled towns, the walls rise to a height of 25 feet. Most of the circuit of the town survives making Fethard the most complete medieval circuit in Ireland. www.fethard.com
Close by is Knockelly Castle, a well fortified Tower House and one of many fine historical buildings in the area.

Coolmore Stud
Coolmore Stud is internationally known in the thoroughbred horse racing industry as are many local horse training stables in close proximity to Clonacody House. Kiltinan and Lisronagh were once settlements of Borough status. Hill walking and Pony trekking can be enjoyed in the shadow of Tipperary’s far famed Slievenamon Mountain ( The Mountain of women ). This mountain is a store of history and fokelore, and it is related that the fairest women in the locality raced to the mountain top to claim the marriage hand of the Celtic Warrior Fionn MacCumhaill.
